Russian Jazz Across Borders Forum&Festival to Bring Together World's Jazz Leaders Online in 2020

Since the International Day of Jazz in St Petersburg (2018), the Russian jazz community has been developing rapidly driven by the Jazz Across Borders (JAB) International Forum & Festival – one of the world's largest jazz conferences. This year, it will be held online on November 13 and 14.

8th Future of Jazz festival

The most youth project of the People's artist of Russia Igor Butman will be held for the eighth time this year! Traditionally, the main venue of the festival will Be the Tchaikovsky concert hall, where on November 8 young musicians will perform with the world-famous Moscow jazz orchestra conducted by the Maestro.

Traditionally, the event will bring together promising musicians of a new generation who have never played together before. This year, the future of jazz will feature vocalist Sofia Atsbeha-Negga, saxophonist Artem Badenko, vocalist and trombonist Anastasia Ivanova, bass guitarist Yaroslav Konstantinov, drummer Denis Silantyev and pianist Daniel Adiyants.

This project is truly unique: it is here that young musicians create the history of modern jazz. Over the years, the festival has introduced Oleg Akkuratov, Kate Davis, Francesco Cafiso, Evan Sherman, Mark Whitfield, A Boo, Russell Hall, Jake Labazzi, Julius Rodriguez, Philip Norris, Victoria Kaunova and many other young talented performers to the Moscow audience.

Every year, in addition to their own projects, the participants of "Future jazz" present unique musical performances on the stage of the Tchaikovsky Concert hall together with the People's artist of Russia Igor Butman and the Moscow jazz orchestra.

Igor Butman is rightly considered the main Ambassador of Russian jazz art on the world stage. In 1999, he founded his famous Moscow jazz orchestra, Quintet and Quartet, which for almost two decades toured hundreds of cities around the world. Igor Butman's discography includes 17 albums, including Magic Land, which he recorded with Chick Corea, Jack Dejonnette, John Patitucci, Stephon Harris, and Randy Brekker.

Over the 20 years of its existence, the Moscow jazz orchestra has established itself as one of the world's leading orchestras and the main catalyst for the development of jazz art in Russia. The band regularly represents Russia at the most prestigious festivals in Europe, Asia and America.
