Moscow Jazz Orchestra and Igor Butman Quintet will begin New Year from USA tour!

From January 30 to February 13, 2020, the legendary Russian groups will perform in New York, Baltimore, Miami, Chicago and Boston. Musicians will play all the best pieces from their program: jazz standards, famous classical music in the original arrangements of composer and pianist Nikolai Levinovsky, as well as author's compositions by Igor Butman.

The first in the tour program will be a series of Orchestra concerts in the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club. Four consecutive evenings: January 30 and 31, February 1 and 2 in the very center of New York will sound the best of the jazz world performed by one of the most famous Russian Orchestras conducted by Igor Butman!

Then, on February 5 and 6, the Maestro with his Quintet will give two concerts at the famous Keystone Korner Jazz Club in Baltimore. On February 7 they will hit South Miami Dade Cultural and Arts Center in Miami, on February 9 - Promontory in Chicago, and the tour will end with a performance on February 12 at Center Makor in Boston!

Igor Butman is justly considered as the top advocate of Russian jazz art in the world. In 1999 he founded his internationally acclaimed Igor Butman Orchestra (now — Moscow Jazz Orchestra), Quartet and Quintet, described by DownBeat Magazine as «an outfit of virtuosos».

In past 20 years Igor Butman along with his bands toured dozens of countries and performed at the world’s biggest festivals.

Moscow Jazz Orchestra is a unity of the topmost Russian jazz musicians. The Orchestra over the years has established itself as the one of the best big bands in the world as well as the driving force for the

jazz culture development in Russia. The Orchestra performed with legends as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Natalie Cole, New York Voices, Kevin Mahogany, George Benson, Gino Vanelli, Winton Marsalis, Larry Corriell, Billy Cobham, Bill Evans, Randy Brecker, Joe Bo Gary Burton, Toots Thielemans, Curt Elling, Patti Austin and many others. 

In 2018, the big band became the first orchestra in the world who ever performed at the world's main jazz event - the All-Star Global Concert of International Jazz Day.

 The Orchestra and Quintet include some of the best musicians in Russia. In 2018, Orchestra pianist Oleg Akkuratov took second place at the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition held in the homeland of jazz in the United States. In 2019, the Orchestra guitarist Yevgeny became a winner of the world's most prestigious jazz guitar competition in theHerbie Hancock International Jazz Institute Guitar Competition.

Jazz Triumph celebrates its 20th anniversary!

At the beginning of the new millennium, the world-famous saxophonist Igor Butman became famous also as an outstanding jazz producer. In 2001, he created one of the largest and most successful Russian world-class festivals - Triumph of Jazz, which has become a real cultural phenomenon in Russian music. In 2020, the Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary!
